Memories of Elsewhere is a collaborative and community project developed by Distanced Assemblage and the Iranian Scottish Community with the support of Inspiring Scotland from August 2021 to March 2022.

Scotland is home to so many diverse individuals and communities, all with really unique stories that lead them here. Memories of Elsewhere celebrate those journeys and stories and look at the complexities inherent in the meaning of belonging for migrant individuals that call Glasgow their home. As part of the project, we delivered a series of workshops aimed at the Iranian community in Scotland, trips to museums and exhibitions, and a final exhibition and event to present and showcase publicly a new collection of objects that embody complex concepts of cultural identity, home, belonging and displacement.
